Where is Asu Island?
- Asu Island is 1 of the 8 islands in the Hinako Archipelago, West Nias, North Sumatra, Indonesia. There are no cars on Asu Island and the local population is about 70 people.
- Puri Asu Resort is 15 km offshore of West Nias Island.
Is there WiFi in the Resort?
- 3G cellular phone service is available with SIMPATI TELKOMSEL SIM card. You can buy in the airport in Medan or Jakarta. We can provide it upon request with 4GB internet package for $20.
- If you do not have an unblocked phone we have a hotspot phone you can use with your SIM card.
Photo Package
- Our staff photographer will photograph all of your sessions and provide the whole unedited files to you at the end of your trip for $200USD
How do we get to Puri Asu Resort?
There are two routes to arrive in Nias Island.
- Garuda Airlines flies direct from Jakarta without stopping in Medan Jakarta-Nias 6:30 am Nias-Jakarta 13:00
- Arrive at Medan International Airport (KNO) Sumatra. Medan is reachable from Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Manilla, and other major Asian capitals
- If arriving in Medan before 13:00 guest can catch Wings/Lion Air flight to Nias at 14:30
- If arriving in Medan after 13:00 Our agent will pick up guests at the airport and take them to a 3-4 star hotel close to the airport for the night. Reservation and fees direct with our agent or guest can arrange on their own
- The following morning around 6 am, guests fly 50 minutes to Nias Island Gunungsitoli, Binaka (GNS)
Our driver picks guests up at Nias airport and drives across Nias Island (2 hours of beautiful tropical scenery) to Sirombu Harbor. Our speedboat takes guests from the harbor to Asu Island in 30 minutes
* Land and sea transfers-NIAS-ASU-NIAS is $150 USD round trip per person
From Binaka Airport Nias (GNS) to Sirombu Harbor then Asu Island and back to Airport (GNS)
Arrival/Departure in Medan and transfer to and from Nias Island are to be done directly by our official appointed Travel Company in Medan; Boraspati Express Tour and Travel
Puri Asu Resort handles all logistics from Nias Airport in and out. Airline tickets are the responsibility of the guest or our recommended agent.

Where it all started, this large wooden house was built by hand in South Sumatra and brought to Asu Island. It is renovated and varnished every season and still looks and feels like brand new.

The Dining Experience
Each day the resort’s chef prepares a variety of food and as often as possible, uses seafood caught by local fishermen and our guests
- Breakfast: 7:00am – 10:00am. All guests order individually from a wide selection of breakfast choices
- Lunch: 12:30-13:30
- Dinner: 7:30 – 21:00
Desserts are served after dinner for all guests and they are all homemade
Attention! Beer and mixed drinks are available for a standard fee
Our chefs can accommodate any dietary requirements or eating preferences, so please let us know in advance of your visit so we can prepare for you
Payment Terms and Conditions
- Payment by credit card can be done online with our secured payment gateway
- Payment in cash must be done upon arrival and check-in
- In the case of last minute bookings, payment for the stay must be paid upon arrival the first day of the trip
- Payment may be paid by cash, Visa, MasterCard, or bank transfer
- Any form of payment constitutes acceptance of the Terms and Conditions stated on this site
- All wire transfers require a US$25 processing fee due to incoming bank charges
Cancellation and Liability Policy

- Puri Asu Resort is not responsible for airline board fees or baggage policies
- Puri Asu Resort does not accept any responsibility for late arrival or non-arrival of surfboards/surfboard bags or any other luggage
- Puri Asu Resort is not responsible for outside hotel stays, meals, and transportation besides airport transfers in Nias
- We will Always assist our guests in any way possible but payment for the above is guest responsibility
- There are no refunds or partial refunds given for early departures from a designated trip, due to illness, injury, weather conditions, swell forecasts, wind forecasts, equipment malfunction, broken boards, bad waves or other reasons.
- In addition, there are no refunds given for reasons pertaining to unstable global, national, or local political situations that do not directly pose a threat to the safe operations of our trips.
- Travel Insurance is highly recommended.
- Puri Asu Resort is not responsible for airline board fees or baggage policies.
- Puri Asu Resort does not accept any responsibility for late arrival or non-arrival of surfboards/surfboard bags or any other luggage. Puri Asu Resort is not responsible for health problems arising from environmental factors during your stay Puri Asu Resort will use all due care for the provision of its services and activities provided to guests.
- Surfing and ocean travel is an inherently risky activity and guests understand and accept this risk. Guests participate in activities and use services at Puri Asu Resort at their own risk. No liability or responsibility is accepted by Puri Asu Resort for any injury, illness, damage, loss, accident, expense, or any other claim arising from involvement in any activities or provision of any services howsoever suffered, even in circumstances where staff of Puri Asu Resort may have negligently breached any duty of care that it or they may owe or have owed in connection with such activities, conduct, supervision, or the provision of services. Puri Asu Resort will not be liable for direct or indirect losses, arising from any such injury, illness, damage, loss accident, or expense including consequential loss or economic loss however caused. Puri Asu Resort does not take responsibility for those inherent risks which may cause unfortunate accidents or incidents during ordinary or extraordinary travel conditions. Puri Asu Resort will not be held responsible for injury, death, damage, loss, delay, cost, expense, or inconvenience arising from travel misfortunes beyond our control.
