Brief information on the area
Kardyvach is one of the most beautiful and second largest lake in the Krasnodar Territory. The lake is located at the foot of the southern slope of the Main Caucasian Range at an altitude of 1838 meters above sea level, 44 kilometers from the village of Krasnaya Polyana in the territory of the Adler district of Sochi and the Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve. The lake is located in a mountain basin surrounded by mountains: from the west, Loyub peak (2970 m), from the north and east by the Kardyvach mountain junction (Tsyndyshha peaks (3139.5 m),
Kardyvach main (3140.5 m) and Kardyvach nodal), from the southeast by the Kutekheku ridge. The lake was formed as a result of the movement of ancient glaciers, which, moving from two sides, formed the final moraine, which closed the basin in which the lake is located. In the past, the lake was much longer, but the intensive work of streams carrying products of mountain destruction into it contributed to its shallowing and decrease in size. From the north, Upper Mzymta flows into Kardyvach, which originates from Lake Upper Kardyvach from a height of 2472 meters, where snow has been lying all summer. In the southwestern part of the lake, the Mzymta River originates - the longest river of the Russian Federation that flows into the Black Sea. There are no fish in the lake, since the Emerald Waterfall is located downstream, which the mountain trout that lives in the river are not able to overcome.
And the most interesting is that Kardyvachy is three. There is also Middle and Upper Kardyvach. When snow has melted on the lower Kardyvach and mountain flowers are blooming, on the upper Kardyvach everything is chained with snow and ice, and if there is an open area of water, then small icebergs are sure to float in it.
According to many, the most beautiful of the whole trinity is Upper Kardyvach. If you still decide to come to Lake Kardyvach, do not deny yourself the pleasure and be sure to visit Upper Kardyvach. You will love its turquoise, snow caps and peak of the peak Loyub, guarding the mirror surface.
