Hornli Northwest Ridge Route, difficulty category - 3B
Below is one of the program options
Day 1
Meeting of the group in the village of Zermatt, 1608 m (by agreement in Geneva, Chamonix). Accommodation at the campsite (hotel). Study tour of the village.
Day 2
Acclimatization yield. We conduct mountaineering lessons in the area of Mount Riffelhorn (2927 m). Riffelhorn Mountain can be reached by mountain tram.
Day 3
Acclimatization yield. An additional climb for acclimatization to Mount Breithorn (4164 m). You can take the cable car to the station "Matterhorn Glacier Paradise" - 3883 m.
Day 4
Rest day. Checking and preparing equipment and products.
Day 5
Ascent to the Hernley Mountain Shelter (Hörnli, 3260 m). Options on foot or partially by cable car to the Schwarz Lake station (Schwarzsee, 2580 m).
Recommended by cable car !!! This greatly saves your strength for climbing the next day.
Day 6
Early climb, access to the assault on the main peak of the Matterhorn (4478 m). Under favorable conditions, after a successful ascent, you can catch a cable car and go down to Zermatt.
Day 7
Reserve day in case of bad weather, feeling unwell.
Day 8
Descent to the village of Zermatt, departure of the climbers
Attention:
- If the participants have acclimatization and good technical training, the climb takes 4-5 days
- Before climbing the Matterhorn, many participants choose an acclimatization tour - climbing Mont Blanc
- After the tour it is possible to visit interesting places in the area
